Here are some ways you can stop bullying:
- Try not to respond to what the bully may be saying or doing sometimes it's best to ignore or to even just laugh at it. By giving a reaction you may be giving the bully exactly what he or she wants, you are giving them power over you because you are showing that it is getting through to you and obviously bothering you.
- Don't retaliate. It will only make them madder and encourage them to continue. By trying to get back at the bully you must first find their weak spot and then expose them. After you have done so ask yourself the question of how are you any different from that bully?
- Make sure you keep the evidence. It can come in handy later as proof to the police or parents. You can always save stuff online or on your phone as evidence later.
- Tell an adult. Your teacher and parents can help when it comes to bullying. You may be embarrased at first but unless you're sure you can handle it, it's always good to have back up.
- Be a friend not a bystander. Watching or forwarding mean messages empowers bullies and can hurt the victim even more. If you can, tell bullies to stop or let them know that harassment makes people look stupid and mean. If you can't stop the bully, at least try to help the victim and report the behavior.
